Knock, knock
Who's there?
Snow.
Snow who?
Um, just snow.
Well, we don't want any. Come back in a month or so.
Luckily this is just a short preview this morning. No sticking, no volume.

Happy Halloween
Tonight we carved pumpkins as we do every year. The cool part about this year's carving was using the pumpkins that we grew.Lynn's of course was perfectly executed.
Mine turned out fine.

It's hoof trimming time
Today we set out into the sheep barn for some good ole hoof trimming. Mind you Lynn was the trimmer. I just basically cringe and document. I have to say though I was incredibly impressed with Lynn's tenacity and skill. This is the first time she has done this alone and Delilah was giving her a run for her money. Tallulah was a handful as well. I thought it best to capture this on video with my instant camera. Enjoy.

More decor pics
This charming fellow is actually animated. When activated he reads from his book of scary tales. His voice is about as soothing as walking through a mine field while banging on cymbals.
Last but not least, Haunting Helsa. Must be an old high school friend of Lynn's.

My kingdom for a fisheye lens
So tonight I was responsible for tucking in the sheep. The day was overcast and cloudy so the sky appeared darker than normal for that time of night. As a result, I took care of the sheep earlier than usual. While walking back towards the house, I noticed that the clouds had parted around the setting sun, creating a marvelous back- light effect. I ran to the house to grab my trusty camera fearing that I would lose the opportunity. I came back out totally out of breath, (hey it's like 500 feet to the house and another back to where I was standing) and the lighting was still there. As I was fiddling with the camera and starting to focus I noticed a full rainbow right over our land. Unreal. The image before me was completely breathtaking, and I was already short on oxygen from my run. I stood there in amazement. My eyes welled up.(possibly from the lack of oxygen) How lucky am I to be here to witness this? A magical moment for sure.
But damn, if I only had a fish eye lens in order to share it with you. I guess some moments should not be captured.

Potential gift idea? From Lynn, that is
For that special someone who has everything...
A lovely hanging woven bag of rats and bloody bones. This one even squeals thanks to the motion sensor built in. How clever. Nothing says I love you more than this. Over and over again.

Lynn gets her freak on
It's that time of year again when the ghouls and goblins come out. No, I am not talking about our Congress. I am referring to Halloween. Over the last week a couple of our friends commented that they were disappointed on the lack of spooky décor at our house. You see Lynn has a penchant for things freakish and scary and decorates every year. Except this year. She told me that since she was not planning on hosting a party then there was no point. You gotta love the mission driven types. I shared that if this was something she loved than she should do it for herself. Much to my chagrin she actually listened. Normally I would be thrilled that she heeded my advice but in this instance I just should have shut up. You see, I like happy things like puppies, birds, and pink lemonade. And now, because I am too caring, my dining room looks like this.
why yes that is a life-sized cocooned corpse hanging upside down in a giant spider web. Doesn't everyone have one? LOL. I will share more pics of our house in the coming week, cause this ain't all, believe me. I really need to learn when to keep quiet.

Makin it happen North Country Style
We are all creative and come up with ideas that would be cool to do right? And yet oftentimes our fears or lack of knowledge or drive get in the way. The result, another idea stored away into nothingness. Well, not here, at least not for our good friend Tim.
He co-owns a 500 acre camp with some friends of his (yes, 500 acres. I know, for many of you that is incomprehensible). Anyhoo, he has a favorite viewing spot inside the actual camp. It is located in the back and is what would be considered a great room with a large picture window overlooking a green field. I imagine him sitting on the couch one day a couple of years ago looking out thinking "wouldn't it be great to have a water view here?" Of course that idea would occur to many of us. The difference is, with Tim, that spot is now a damn pond. Yup, after some planning, engineering, (his vocation) and a giant excavator (which I am totally bummed I missed seeing in action) there is not one, but two ponds (of course there is much more involved with the creation of them but I am shortening it for the purpose of story telling).
So, of course, the "natural next step" occurs to him and that is to stock the ponds with fish. LOL, these people never cease to amaze me. And on Friday I joined him at his camp to release 100 young large-mouth bass.

Fish being counted for distribution |
Ahh, the versatile black garbage bag. What ever did we do without them? |
here are the little beauties a little stunned by the new environment. No worries it would appear they all made it |
So here we have a picture of their new home and Tim's new view.
And THAT is the way it is done !!

Night sky
Recently we have been treated to some beautiful evening skies. A friend of mine called me the other night because he saw what he thought were the Northern Lights over the St. Lawrence River. Unfortunately, I was in the middle of something and could not drive out to look. I did however capture some of the sky over our house.

A brood of hens?
wait what? A bit of an identity crisis here. This has been going on for about a week. I saw her go into the coop area today. At least she is good at making friends. What should her name be? Henny? Chicky?
Le Chapeau
So a friend crocheted this for me over the weekend. A great effort, just a wee bit big. So I decided to lend it to a friend.
Playing ball with Mastiffs
What a beautiful day it is today! I saw this in the yard and felt inspired to start a game of soccer with Mags and Wilma.
Magnolia clearly did not share in my enthusiasm despite my excited tone and kicking the ball over to her.
Thankfully the Dil came over to inspect the ball
yay! She wants to play!
Or not. :(

Oh well, A for effort. I wonder if sheep play soccer.

Pic du jour
Lynn was kind enough to put this small arrangement in my office. I like it so I thought I would share.
